What You'll Do
The Head of HR will partner with the Chief HR Officer and the HR team in driving all aspects of HR including DEIA, benefits, recruitment, professional development, performance management, policy development and implementation, employee communications, mediation and culture. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR leader to create and implement best practices designed to enhance the overall employee experience at The Frick.
Who You'll Work With
You will report to the Chief Human Resources Officer.
You will supervise the Manager of Employee Engagement and Benefits and an HR & Finance Assistant.
You will work in concert with the Finance Team on an almost daily basis, work closely with the General Counsel, and serve as a resource to senior leadership, managers, and staff at all levels of the institution.
Key Responsibilities:
Organizational Development
- Collaborate with the CHRO in providing information and guidance to all staff on matters pertaining to recruitment, orientation, employee relations matters, mediation, compliance, leadership development and organizational learning
- Drive employee engagement and retention efforts, collaborating with leaders to develop effective internal communications strategies, processes, tools, and training to promote an ongoing positive culture
- Work with managers throughout the organization to help support performance management and relationship building by communicating goals, tracking progress and providing continuous feedback to team members Continuously review and leverage resources (staff, budget, technology) to ensure appropriate best practices in HR administration and procedures
HR & Talent Management
- Continue to support and develop the institution's comprehensive approach to professional development incorporating coaching and management skills throughout the organization
- Continue to develop and expand recruitment practices to meet current and future staffing needs
- Support expansion of our on-boarding process that enhance our commitment to fully integrate new staff members into the broader team
- Provide guidance and support on best practices to hiring managers to ensure exceptional and diverse recruiting pipelines
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Ensure benefits and other aspects of human resources infrastructure operate with both exceptional accuracy and a strong customer service orientation
- Work closely with the CHRO and the leadership team to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws
- Enact and direct policies and practices that provide protection in all areas including employment, employee relations, benefits, compensation, equal employment opportunity, diversity, and protection from harassment and discriminatory practices
Required Skills and Experience
- 10+ years of HR generalist experience in a nonprofit or cultural institution
- Background or experience in coaching/counseling/social work is a plus
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of HR compliance, benefits administration, records retention, employee relations, DEIA, and HR policies and procedures
- Previous experience managing people, with a track record of leading others to achieve professional goals
- A track record of influencing senior leaders on organizational development, talent, and HR issues
- Excellent relationship building skills with a demonstrated ability to work well with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
- Ability to achieve goals through collaboration with cross-functional teams, even where no direct reporting relationship exists
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and problem solve situations of both technical and personal natures
- Fluency is Spanish is ideal for written and verbal communication
- Budgeting and fiscal planning experience useful

Additional Details
Hybrid Work Environment
The Museum will be open to the public five days/week and we often engage with staff during evening and weekend hours. The Head of HR may be relied upon to work to support staff during evening and weekend events. Though this is a full-time in-person role, there is a great deal of room for flexibility.
