What You'll Do
The Director of Evaluation & Impact will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing an overarching evaluation approach across six diverse program areas within Fidelity Foundations. This individual will partner closely with the VP of Insights and Impact and Program Directors to create and facilitate learning cycles that support continuous improvement in grantmaking and provide program teams valuable insights into the impacts of our grants and strategies. Additionally, this individual will collaborate with Grants Management to develop and refine the necessary systems and workflows to determine and ensure standardized grantee data collection.
Key responsibilities include:
- Evaluation Strategy Development: Refine and implement a comprehensive evaluation framework that aligns with the Foundations' mission and strategic goals across six program areas that focuses on measuring change against project-level and organization-level impact in aggregation.
- Collaboration and Learning: Work with Program Directors to establish learning cycles that foster continuous improvement and generate insights into the effectiveness and impact of grantmaking.
- Systems and Workflow Integration: Partner with the Grants Management team to build and enhance systems and workflows for standardized grantee data collection and reporting, inclusive of redesigning grant applications to ensure capture of required data elements.
- Reporting and Analysis: Design and create reports, analyses, and data visualizations (including Tableau dashboards) to clearly articulate key findings and recommendations.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., Program Directors, Board of Trustees, grantee partners, etc.) to communicate evaluation findings and promote a culture of learning and accountability.
- Team Building: Recruit, develop, and lead a team to support this work.
Who You'll Work With
You will report to the Vice President, Insights and Impact.
You will frequently collaborate with the Director, Grants Operations and our Program Directors.
Required Skills and Experience
It is critically important that the Director, Evaluation & Impact be a highly collaborative and collegial team player who listens and communicates well. To be considered, candidates will possess a majority of the following professional and personal attributes and competencies:
- Advanced degree in a relevant quantitative field (e.g., mathematics, economics, evaluation, etc.)
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant work experience, with at least 10 years of experience in program evaluation in a non-profit context; prior philanthropic experience preferred
- Demonstrated success in designing and implementing evaluation frameworks and systems
- Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills and experience with data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Strong communication skills, including ability to develop compelling, fact-based narratives and engage an executive audience
- Leadership experience and demonstrated success managing teams to outcomes
- Sound judgment, integrity, humility and respect for confidentiality
- Inherent curiosity, an ability to listen, and a dedication to learning
- Excellent interpersonal skills (e.g., collaborative, diplomatic, able to build trust, and negotiate and build consensus with diverse stakeholders)

Additional Details
This position will be based in Boston, MA on a hybrid schedule with a requirement to work in-persona minimum of 3 days per week; successful candidates will need to undergo a comprehensive background check.
