Sukanya is a movement artist and non-profit administrator and brings with her 10 years of experience in the arts and non-profit sector. She currently works as the Director of Human Resources at the YWCA Jamestown handling executive candidate searches, recruitment, employee relations, compliance, payroll and benefit administration. She also leads the DEIA committee at the YWCA Jamestown with her goal of continuously building an inclusive and equitable workplace for women and people of color.
She holds a graduate degree in Chemistry from St. Xavier's College and a Diploma in Movement Arts and Contemporary Dance. She was recently selected to be one an artist-in-residence at the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, Curriculum in Motion for 2021-2022. Her passion project is to raise awareness, accessibility and provide opportunities in Indian Classical Dance through arts education.
She resides in Jamestown, NY with her husband and four cats. When not working, you can find her taking long walks while listening to podcasts or drinking chai on her front porch and people watching.
