ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
Our client is a premier non-profit in the education space. Its mission is to enlist the nation's most promising future leaders in the movement to eliminate educational inequality. Embarking on a stage of significant growth, the organization is looking for a team of highly talented individuals to help shape both the future of the organization and the education landscape.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Managing Director of Development will lead our campaign to raise more than $60 million in operating revenue over the next 5 years. The Managing Director of Development (MDD) will report directly to and work closely with the Executive Director on setting and executing high level development strategy, manage a team of talented development professionals and work directly with a portfolio of donors and prospects. Our client’s Bay Area region intends to grow its funding base by 80% in the next five years - this includes building a campaign to garner hopefully $2M in state funding by 2012. This individual must be comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment, possess an exceptionally high level of personal responsibility and be equally comfortable managing back end processes, engaging with donors and creating strategy.
Team Overview
Founded in 1991, our client’s Bay Area region is currently one of the largest regions with a force of nearly 420 corps members reaching approximately 30,000 students in eight school districts. In addition, nearly 1,300 alumni are working from all sectors to channel resources toward the effort to ensure educational equity. The Bay Area is fully locally supported at $10 million by a diversified funding base of individuals, foundations and corporations. By 2015, the Bay Area will increase to be a corps 600 with strong clusters in San Francisco, the East Bay and the Silicon Valley, impacting educational outcomes for 25% of the students growing up in poverty in the communities we serve. At the same time, the regional alumni network will grow to well over 2,000 and the local budget is projected to then be $18 million. Regional staff members work to train and support corps members, continually strengthen relationships with local schools and districts, foster the leadership of alumni living in the area and grow the funding base to continue growth and ensure sustainability.
